Sarah’s unpublished manuscript ‘The Myopic of Me’ was longlisted for the memoir prize in the New Welsh Writing Awards 2017.

Her latest published books are her short novella, Kaleidsocope (Mantle Lane Press, 2017), her 2015 Overton Poetry Prize winning pamphlet Lampshades & Glass Rivers (Loughborough University, 2016), a mostly mainstream poetry collection plenty-fish (Nine Arches Press), which was shortlisted in the International Rubery Book Awards 2016, and The Magnetic Diaries (Knives, Forks and Spoons Press), a modern more experimental narrative in poems based on Gustave Flaubert’s Madame Bovary, incorporating a supplementary multimedia element and highly commended in the Forward Prizes.

Her second full-length poetry collection Be[yond] was published by Knives, Forks and Spoons Press in July 2013.

Her first full-length collection Into the Yell published by Circaidy Gregory Press in July 2010 and THIRD PRIZE WINNER in the INTERNATIONAL RUBERY BOOK AWARD 2011.

A collaborative pamphlet, Hearth, with poet Angela Topping is published by Mothers Milk Books. This was launched at Cheltenham Poetry Festival 2015 and was a Poetry Book Society Autumn Pamphlet 2015.

POETRY EDITOR

Sarah is in charge of editorial, management and marketing at V. Press, a small independent publisher founded in June 2013.

Joint poetry editor of Worcester Literary Festival magazine Be: from May 2011 to May 2012;

Also selected as Coventry-Cork O’Bhéal Twin City Poets Exchange Poet 2013 and for the Writing West Midlands Room 204 writers’ development programme 2013/2014.

POETRY-PLAYS

Sarah’s poetry-play version of The Magnetic Diaries premiered at The Courtyard, Hereford, in July 2015 as the final show of the theatre’s Write On Festival, starring Vey Straker and directed by Tiffany Hosking of Reaction Theatre Makers. An Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016 highly recommended show, the play enjoyed an ACE-funded tour in 2016, including London’s The Vaults, Ledbury Poetry Festival and mac birmingham.

JOURNALISM

Before becoming a freelance journalist (writing news stories, features and adfeatures for the Burton Daily Mail Ltd) Sarah spent more than two years working for the Burton Daily Mail Ltd. Her role as a reporter for the newspaper group between July 1998 and December 2000 included writing news, business, features and reviews for the Burton Mail, Uttoxeter Advertiser and Burton and South Derbyshire Advertiser.

Sarah was also the Ted Bottomly Award Winner (best newspaper practice section) in the NCTJ National Certificate in Newspaper Journalism exams in June 2000 and won third prize in the 1998 Young Financial Journalist of the Year competition.
