Publication & Performance News

So, quite a distancing punctuation mark between the two element of this week’s blog post!

First up, my delights of the past writing (or more admin, studying and publishing!) fortnight:

Three poems – ‘Why Sounds Still Circle’, ‘In Escher’s Library’ and ‘57% North’ – published in ‘Stand’;
‘Through Cellophane’ flash fiction and photo published on Fictive Dream – another angle to this narrative can also be found in the visual poem ‘through cellophane darkly’ published on 3:am magazine a few weeks ago;
‘Another Sunday’ flash fiction accepted for Arachne Press’s The Shortest Day readings and anthology;
talking design and cover art with Matthew Pegg (Mantle Lane Press) for my novella Kaleidoscope;
lovely time reading at Poetry Bites in Birmingham – run by Jacqui Rowe, with a strong open mic section and great, varied set from Naomi Paul last Tuesday.

The Magnetic Diaries – performance and free workshop in Birmingham

Birmingham MD A3 300 DPI Web E-FlyerTonight, Reaction Theatre Makers stage my poetry-play The Magnetic Diaries at Bristol Poetry Festival (Oct 2), followed by performances later this month at Chapel Arts Centre, RNCB, Hereford (Oct 7), FEAST festival at Malvern Cube (Oct 15), Mac Birmingham (Oct 22) and London’s The Vaults (Oct24).

More details about these can all be found here, but I want to focus in this blogpost on October 22 at Mac Birmingham, where I will be leading a FREE poetry workshop before the performance.

This FREE poetry workshop is focused around using objects for inspiration and then either adapting that as a means for exploring personal experiences or channeling away from them. The workshop will take place at 4pm, before the MAC Birmingham performance of ‘The Magnetic Diaries’. The 90-min workshop takes place in Hexagon Room at the mac birmingham, Cannon Hill Park, Birmingham, B12 9QH. To reserve a place for the workshop, please email me on lifeislikeacherrytreeATyahooDOTcom. (There are 15 spaces.)
